If you do not know what a rootkit is by now, listen up. Sony BMG was exposed this Monday of supplying rootkit technology with certain copy-protected CDs sold. The supposed DRM software was secretly installed when users inserted the CD into their CD-ROM and began to play it, not ripping the CD, playing it! According to Wikipedia, a rootkit is, ”a set of tools frequently used by an intruder after cracking a computer system. These tools are intended to conceal running processes and files or system data, which helps an intruder maintain access to a system for malicious purposes.” Now, where does Sony plan to stop, obviously nowhere? So, I agree with CNET when they say, DRM This, Sony!

O yeah, this does not affect Mac users.
