The reported gigabit per second speeds have some serious limitations.
- Must be a direct line of sight to the base station
- Must be within a few hundred yards of the base station
- It doesn’t work indoors as it does not penetrate walls.
Overall, 5G will be an improvement over current 4G networks but the high speeds you see talked about will be very limited as the frequencies required to deliver those speeds require certain parameters.
It is physics, not magic.
